The 18th All British Rally had made the move north west of last years site. The Rally site was approximately 11 kilometers north of the township of Dunkeld. Rally goers entering Dunkeld from Melbourne, on the Glenelg Hwy, would turn towards Halls Gap at the Dunkeld Police Station corner.

A short turn right was quickly followed at the Halls Gap Tourist road. This took riders around the shadow of Mt Abrupt. The road then opening up to a long straight. When the top of the next rise was reached a right turn right at the Cassidy Gap signpost took you down 1/2 a kilometer of dirt road to the Rally Site. The site a pleasant  wooded area was on private land  bordering the National Park.
